Hearing Loss in Infants and Children

0

Arkansas was among the first to implement a bill (Senate bill 819) to “ensure early detection of hearing loss for all newborn and infant children in Arkansas to avoid developmental delays associated with late identification of hearing loss.”

Research confirms that children who are identified and receive intervention before the age of six months have significantly better speech and language development than those identified later.

If an infant fails his/her newborn hearing screening, further testing by an audiologist is recommended.

At Saline Audiology, we can test infants using Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE).
