Your Hearing
The audiologist is looking for quantitative information with regard to your degree of hearing loss.
Hearing levels are expressed in decibels (dB):
- normal hearing (0 to 20 dB HL)
- mild hearing loss (20–40 dB HL)
- moderate hearing loss (40–60 dB HL)
- severe (60–80 dB HL) and profound hearing loss (80 dB HL or greater)
